One role is within Transpennine Route Upgrade and the other is within North West & Central

Salary: £35,582 to £40,029 per annum

Location: Base location can be Manchester or York for Transpennine Route Upgrade and Birmingham or Milton Keynes for North West & Central.

Contract Type: Permanent

Office Requirement: Hybrid. 2-3 days in the office and the rest working remotely (to be confirmed at interview)

Job Introduction

As a HR Analyst / Junior HR Business Partner, you will be instrumental in analysing and interpreting data that informs our strategic people priorities and the decisions we take to make TRU and Network Rail a great place to work. You will work closely with senior HR leaders to develop and implement HR strategies that support our business objectives and enhance employee engagement. This role sits within the central TRU HR team, and you will co-ordinate and drive improvements and key deliverables for the wider team.

You will gain exposure to other areas such as Resourcing, Employee Relations and HR generalists working alongside a supportive and pro-active team. This is a role that provides a great opportunity to develop your HR career within a large organisation and major programme, providing you with a platform to progress and develop to a more Senior HR role.

Salary: £35,582 to £40,029 per annum.

Main Responsibilities

Some of the key accountabilities of this role are:

  1. Utilise advanced IT tools to gather, analyse, and present data related to employee performance, recruitment trends, and compensation and benefits.
  2. Support in the design and execution of people-related strategies that align with our business goals.
  3. Engage in workforce planning and talent management processes, including succession planning and employee development initiatives.
  4. Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to promote HR initiatives that enhance organisational culture and employee well-being.
  5. Participate in regular reviews and updates of HR practices to ensure they remain relevant and impactful.
  6. Set up systems to track weekly, periodic and quarterly HR metrics and resulting actions to drive performance and feed into business information packs. 
  7. Manage data assurance activities; verify data requirements undertake analysis, review and interpret analysis and make recommendations.
  8. Support the development and enhancement of relevant standards, processes, procedures and systems and other capability improvement initiatives.
  9. Coordinate information management and record keeping.

The Ideal Candidate

We are keen to welcome applications from aspiring HR business partners with demonstrable interest and experience in human resources which is supported by a relevant background or work experience in this field. Candidates with a strong foundation in HR principles and practice will be well suited to the demands of the role, a CIPD qualification would be desirable or a willingness to complete this qualification, which we can support you with. Due to the importance in this role regarding complex data interrogation, analysis, problem solving and the ability to make recommendations to drive improvement, candidates with proven IT proficiency, particularly in HRIS systems and data analysis tools are desired.

You will have the ability to communicate and influence key stakeholders at all levels and exhibit effective organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Candidates showing a willingness to learn and aspirations to progress in HR is more important than undertaking a similar role previously as there will be plenty of scope for on-the-job training. Transpennine Route Upgrade

The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is a Programme of activities that is improving the railway between York and Manchester via Leeds and Huddersfield.

​​​Stretching across the North of England, this key 76-mile Transpennine railway serves 23 stations, crosses over and dips under 285 bridges and viaducts, passes through six miles of tunnels, and crosses over 29 level crossings.

Proposed improvements as will deliver a hard-working, reliable railway for passengers, allowing for trains with more seats, more services and faster journey times.​
